A hidden gem of Merritt! Well, not so hidden - the place is usually packed - but less famous than it should be. Whenever we're around Merritt, we try to find time and dine in this cozy restaurant where food is never a disappointment, atmosphere is home-like and relaxed, portions are generous, and prices are very reasonable. Service can be a bit slow compared to some other restaurants, so don't go there if you're in hurry. But if you're stopping to rest and have lunch during a road trip, it's a very nice spot to visit.
One of the best diners! Such an amazing quality of food. We had to wait just 10 mins before we got seated. The food took regular time to reach our tables. Service is excellent!
Great breakfast here. More diner fare than fine dining, but casual and solid. Good coffee. Service was worth a mention - attentive, thoughtful, polite and accommodating. Will repeat.
Had the schnitzel and it was to die for!!! Freshly made. Crispy with fresh mushroom gravy. You must order them! And the lemon meringue pie was very well made and delicious. Baked in-house too! Shane was our server and very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend to eat here. Great homestyle diner.
The food was definitely better than the last time I remember, which was a number of years ago. Not greasy at all. The eggs bene was enjoyable. Nice to see that their menu is shorter and more manageable for me to choose from. The few options they had were all good options and I could easily have ordered anyone of them would have been happy with the choice. The best part was the service. It was certainly nice to see that old school charm that is demonstrated by a smiling server swinging by and ensuring your coffee was always topped up. I didn't need my coffee topped up, but the gesture is extremely appreciated. You don't see that kinda service too often post COVID. I'd definitely swing by a home restaurant more often now. I wouldn't avoid it as much as I have in the past.
How do you tell people this is exactly what you want from a home cooked meal. Delicious and good size portions. When passing through Merritt, stop here for a great meal. Highly recommended.
